I just read an interview with violist (and recent Grammy winner!), Kim Kashkashian. She originally wanted to play clarinet. Her family already had a violin, though, so they said she had to play violin. She studied violin and then at Interlochen switched over to viola---which was in the range she originally preferred.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow---made me think of you!
A goal of 10,000 hours is a great place to start, and you're so much farther along than I was at your age. Your playing sounds great, and if you keep up this work ethic, you'll definitely go places. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks, anonymous clarinet player!

Saw you at the audition today. Wow! Insure your fingers!
ReplyDeleteI don't think they do that. Besides, it would be a great opportunity to learn the trumpet...or the bugle...
ReplyDeleteBut maybe it's better not think about losing fingers!

My class really enjoyed going through your page! They wanted me to ask you to post a new video! They want to see your progress.
