I am 18 years old. I am in 12th grade. I homeschool in the afternoons, and I go to Stevenson High School for Band, AP Physics, AP Government, and AP Economics in the mornings. I like homeschooling, because my work isn't restricted by other students, and I can go at my own pace. Plus, I have lots of time to play my clarinet.
I want to be a professional musician, so I have to practice a lot. I play at least 3 hours a day, usually more.
I play in 2 wonderful youth orchestras, the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and Midwest Young Artists, and I am a member of the Chicago Clarinet Ensemble. I have also had the privilege of being a member of Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra of the USA for the past 2 years.
Mozart wrote in a letter to Anton Stadler, "I would not have thought that a clarinet could imitate the human voice so deceptively as you imitate it. Your instrument is so soft, so delicate in tone that no one who has a heart can resist it."
